VECTA HISTORY
The story begins in the 90's when Shaun Cheney, then 12, began making skateboards for the neighborhood kids in his basement on the South Shore of Massachusetts. He had a tight little operation going on and he always had dreams of bringing his love of skate and snow to life. Shaun spent years perfecting his skills, being a snowboard instructor at local mountain resorts and skating around his hood. Little did he know that on the other shore of Massachusetts lived his future partner, Shea McKinney. She had big dreams of bringing her artistic ideas, love of fashion and passion for the snow, skate and surf, but wasn't sure just how to do it. Shea ended up moving to Huntington Beach, CA began and working as a designer for Fox Racing and did a small freelance stint at DC shoes. She loved being immersed in the action sports industry, but really wanted to do her own thing. Little did she know, Shaun did too!
The two met in 2005 and things started to happen. They went on numerous snowboarding trips around the country and spent many travels wondering how they could be surrounded with the things that they love and make a living at the same time. They started with meager funds, whole hell of a lot of determination and their combined passion for the industry. They began designing an apparel line and plotting how they would bring their ideas to life. They collaborated with some local riders and worked countless hours at building a company that would embody the attributes that they love the most; skate, surf, snowboarding, art, music and culture. It was then that Vecta finally came to life. The basement where Shaun had began his skate shop had now become headquarters for Vecta. The two believed that the most common denominator of all action sports is movement. Their symbol is three objects that fit into one another is if they are in constant movement with each other. Vecta stands for the mathematical term meaning forward motion. The two fit together seamlessly and in turn Vecta now had an icon to symbolize the ideas of it's founders.
Vecta believes in promoting athletes that have a genuine love for the industry and works hard to bring you apparel that reflects the love of those sports and the world around us. We want to be a constant in the action sports arena and hope you all follow us as we grow. We are very excited about the things to come.
